Oil Field Fires in Kuwait

The photographer writes: "Immediately after
the war, 3AD units were often in close vicinity to many of the
hundreds of oil well fires set by Saddam's forces when they realized
they were about to be overrun by the coalition. The field in
this photo was approximately 15 Kilometers [9 miles] south of
the Kuwait-Iraq border and the town of Safwan, Iraq. I counted
62 wells on fire one evening." |
