Above video: Fifty-seven years after his death in World War II,
the birthplace of one of America's greatest combat generals,
3rd Armored commander Maurice Rose, was dedicated for the first
time in 2002. He was born to Polish immigrant parents in 1899
in the bustling river town of Middletown, Connecticut. While
the town of birth had been long known by historians, the exact
location (508 Main St.) was not discovered until 2002. This video
was compiled in 2007 from still photos and amateur VHS tapes,
including, most notably, footage by Bud Lee, a 3rd Armored Div.
Cold War veteran who came from Florida. Video editing for web
and soundtrack enhancement was by Vic Damon of 3AD.com staff. |
