Several thousand German POW's are shown in formations and in one large holding bin (at right) outside of Mons, Belgium, in early September, 1944, after their encirclement and capture by the 3rd Armored Division and the 1st Infantry Division. More than 25,000 German troops were captured in the action, with additional thousands killed or wounded. At this point (above) trucks have been brought in for transport of the POW's toward the English Channel and eventually to awaiting ships.
