View from the Cologne Cathedral
toward the Hohenzollern Bridge over the Rhine River

Retreating German troops blew up the bridge on March 6, 1945, with advancing 3AD forces only 30 minutes away. Spearhead was barely denied a crossing of the Rhine only a day before the famous capture of the Remagen Bridge by the 9th Armored Division.
