Telegram from Supreme Allied Commander
Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower
to Major Gen. Rose's widow on April 2, 1945
|
Our website presents the first ever public display
of the Eisenhower telegram sent to Mrs. Virginia Rose at her
home in Denver, Colorado, three days after Gen. Rose was killed
outside of Paderborn. Our appreciation for its release in November,
2004, goes to the General's older son, Marine Corps Colonel Maurice
Rose (Ret), and to research historian Don R. Marsh (2AD/3AD WWII
veteran). The obviously personal and heart-felt wording of the
telegram could not be a greater tribute to Spearhead's commander. |
