The illustrated plaque above of Gen. Rose was
added to this gate column in 2004 by Belgium citizenry in connection
with the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Belgium. It was
at this location - the Chateau Warelles - that 3AD Headquarters
was located on September 2-4, 1944, after the division crossed
into Belgium. The top plaque was installed in 1976 by the City
of Mons, while the 2nd plaque down was provided by 3AD WWII veterans
in 1994. |
