Soldiers from Drake Kaserne periodically visited
The Fritz Kinderheim, a riral Frankfurt-area orphanage to spend
time with German kids on a volunteer basis. 3rd Armored soldiers
also donated about $300 monthly to the facility (and in 1968,
that was a fair sum). SSgt Joseph Gargullo, at right, became
affectionately known as "Uncle Joe." |
